I loved Irma from the first moment I met her in 2013. We were introduced to each other because her son Travis and my daughter Manette were engaged to be married. We became instant friends.
At that first meeting Irma asked me if I wanted any help with the wedding planning. I immediately took her up on her offer. We had fun shopping together for the clothes the grandchildren would wear and enjoyed sharing decorating ideas we both had for the reception. Irma volunteered to oversee many of those ideas and she carried them through to perfection. For the past eight years we have gone to various gardens and appreciated nature with one another, have had pedicures together, gathered our two families together at my home for various celebrations, gone to breakfast, lunch and dinner with each other, and golfed many wonderful rounds of golf with one another. Irma gave me tips which improved my golf game and she often shared personal insights about other things that I found to be so interesting. Every time I was with her we conversed about a variety of topics and at the end of these conversations I would leave having much to think about and to ponder.
In recent years it was my pleasure to spend some time on a few occasions in Irma’s happy place, her pent house condo at the top of 29th street in Ogden, Utah. She loved her home there so much. It was very nice to visit with both she and John as we sat outside and looked out over the city on their impressive deck that they had reconstructed themselves. Any time spent with John and Irma was time well spent. I always came away from our encounters feeling happy, uplifted and enlightened.
I will miss Irma so much. I am very grateful for all the special times with her. Ours is a forever friendship. I look forward to the time with I will see her again. That will be one of those best of times. While waiting I will treasure the sweet memories I have of her and keep them close to my heart.
